Learning how to modify WordPress’s not as challenging as you imagine.
Finding a fresh look for your WordPress blog is simple, thanks to abundantly available themes. However, if you’re having trouble finding a theme that works for you, you can always take matters into your own hands by learning how to modify WordPress.
Remember that if you’ve downloaded a theme, you should ensure the creator is okay with changing it. You should be fine as long as you provide a link back to their site in the theme documentation, but it never hurts to double-check. If all else fails, the WordPress theme can be changed to something more suitable.
Now, I’ll explain how to alter the visual elements of the WordPress theme. This is the simplest method for personalizing a WordPress theme. When possible, I like to keep things basic. Why bother with a complete redesign if you’re happy with the current layout? To test our hypothesis, we’ll look for the images currently used on the theme and modify them to reflect the new design.
You need to track down the theme’s accompanying picture files. If you manually install the theme, this will be a straightforward task. WordPress users who opted for automatic installation must manually locate and save their chosen theme on their computer.
Once you’ve downloaded the theme and saved it to your computer, open the pictures folder. The image folder will likely be inside the theme’s image folder. Any name the theme’s designer wants to give this folder is acceptable; however, “image” or “img” is what it will usually be called.
The theme’s graphics files should be stored in this folder, including the header, background, icon, and footer. Copy these pictures to a working folder on your computer so you don’t mess with the originals. Making a duplicate of the image files and working from there is much more convenient for me. I do not doubt that they are suitable for the topic or the proper size for my purposes.
You’ll need a quality graphic editor to make changes to these files. If you have Adobe, excellent; if not, GIMP is a free alternative. As a first step after opening an image in your graphics application, you should create a new layer to act as a “blank canvas” over which to build your design.
From here on out, you’ll primarily be using your design skills. You can copy and paste alternative photos onto the new layer to swap them out. When it comes to modifying your graphics, the sky is the limit. I could go into further depth, but a tutorial on graphic design already exists.
Once you’re satisfied with how your images look after being changed, you may launch your site’s new, personalized WordPress theme.
Your new, personalized theme can be installed in one of two ways.
Using an FTP client, you can transfer your updated image files. Ensure you upload the images where they go and replace the existing ones.
If you have the original theme installed on your computer, you can log into your WordPress blog, and the updated theme will be installed immediately. You may need to delete the old theme or give the new one a different name on your hard drive if you already have the old one installed.
My post on [http://onlinewebmarketinghub.com/how-to-install-wordpress-theme] will help you set up a WordPress theme if you’re having trouble doing so.
These are the rudimentary steps for adding visual flair to a WordPress theme. The only thing stopping you is your creativity.
You could contact the theme’s original developer and show them the modifications you made. If they’re impressed by your blog’s theme, they may even provide a link to it.
